Ennui

Yawn, I’m bored.
Mindless task completed,
Now can’t concentrate,
Papers will be ignored,
Mental faculties depleted,
Leaving me irate.

To verse I turn
And try something funky.
A novel, complex rhyme,
Yet easy to discern.
ABAB’s not so spunky,
ABCABC wins this time.

The Great Postdoc Hunt,
Unsuccessful, distracting.
Last year, I reminisced,
The apartment-search stunt
Wreaked a toll exacting.
At least I had Craigslist.

So why this primetime glut
Of inter-chick passion?
