Mon, You Mental!

My mom recently skipped a few millennia and upgraded to broadband. She’s fairly excited with her new toy – just as well, since it used to be more economical to fly to Boston to convey a simple “Hi” instead of relying on the breathtaking speed of dial-up. I send her links to my more brilliant [...]

Window’s Vista

Comfortably seated
In a grad office,
Seasonally heated,
Snug as a dwarf is,
With a view panoramic,
Of the Bostonian skyline,
Through windows gigantic,
Visual sweep purely mine.
Dorm and lab
Do some charm steal,
Architecturally drab,
Salvaged by presence arboreal.
Trees verdant
Just days before,
Chlorophyllically spent,
Attired in sunset’s glow.
Red, gold and orange,
Nature’s last gasp,
An inconsequential lozenge
Soothing the inevitable rasp.
Soon they will fall,
Leaves and dignity,
Replaced by a wintry [...]

Steamed

I know I put a poll out there to determine what the next post should be but the country is going to the socialist dogs and its ramifications are being felt in this blog too. Besides, I would like to cock a snook at those individuals who chose “Stop blogging, you pollutant!” Hah! So much [...]

Polliloquy

To or not to blog?
The query
Never ceases to dog,
I’m wary
Of time spent
In affairs
Not research-bent,
Spiralling stairs
From one topic
To a plethora
With but a click,
Lost in an agora.
But you may
Ask, bewildered,
“This is a post, nay
All things considered?”
To that I retort,
“This little verse,
Stream of thought,
Presages much worse.”
And so I arrive
To how I began,
Continue to thrive
As a posting man?
Tired of [...]

Go to bed gramps

Watch Mrs. McCain cringe* on the side.
And then watch the energy drain out of theĀ  enthusiastic, tanned young woman on the left, as the senator tries to recover.
Priceless!
*Don’t let the botox fool you.

Rheum with a…Eww!

Am sick,
As a dog,
Highly phlegmatic,
Damn nasal clog,
Ruddy obstruction,
‘tween nostril ‘n brain,
Oxygenated suction,
A derailed train,
Tissue after tissue,
To drain mucus,
Multi-hued issue,
Respiratory carcass,
Ny/DayQuil,
So “effective”,
Timely Boston chill,
Deserves invective,
Such is Oct,
Month of Fall,
Harbinger of snot,
In a bronchial squall.

Moonshine

Since I am technically on the lookout for jobs (hah!), I shall take this opportunity to drag my ideal one out of the closet. No, it’s not a male stripper or a bartender in a gay bar so you may as well shove inauspicious thoughts down the crapper. I would…like to be…oh shucks…this is hard [...]

Alternative History

While I was doing my laundry last night I had an epiphany.
The world as it is today is made possible because Bubba couldn’t keep it in his pants. Consider an alternative timeline:
‘92-00: Bubba keeps hands off interns.
01: Gore gets elected
01-04: His smugness offsets the good that comes out of his environmental policies.
03-04: McCain wins Republican [...]

Mr. Anthrope

I’m tired of people. Since I can’t avoid them at home or in the lab or on the way from home to the lab or on the way back home from the lab, life is completely swamped with unnecessary blobs of protoplasm. I can’t stand the Good Mornings and especially detest the vile How was [...]
