Humdinger

This is close to the most ridiculous thing that I’ve heard so far. Vera Wang is a famous designer of bridal gowns – a rather wasteful occupation, since the damn thing is worn once and relegated to the dustbin of history, unless a special someone ambles along…for the second time, and a third…you get the picture. Anyway, I was watching 30Rock (fabulous show!) on nbc.com when I saw an ad which claimed that V.W. (the Volkswagen of designers?) was now creating mattresses for Serta – apparently a top-notch mattress company. From mad-dresses to mattresses…doesn’t take a lot of imagination to connect the two. She’s just diversified her act to include the second phase of marriage. Go figure.

The gowns are supposed to be exorbitantly priced. Serta should introduce a gown-mattress combination sale. “Gown-cum-down”, perhaps? Brides are rumoured to be highly strung-out before the first act. I would love to see one wear a VW mattress to the altar and use it as a bed later. Now that’s plain common sense.
