Owing to over a month of lazing around and having all the time to do whatever I want I came across some really funny things on the tele. Thought I’d share one of the greatest mysteries of Television:
What is with that lil’ jig that almost all TV presenters do before and after news telecast? You know the bit with the computer. I started wondering what they really type/do there. Here are some of the possibilities:
- Like all respectable professions the TV presenter also has to “chat” on the job. Maybe he/she is just going …”gtg … telecast to do. Tc” on his Yahoo/MSN Messenger.
- Maybe it isn’t a monitor at all. Maybe it is just a mirror for our vain presenters to ensure their hair is set just right.
- Possibly the TV network is outta money and the presenters have to do a quick Google on all the breaking stories. Multi-tasking and the works.
I dunno. Whatever it is they are up to, it sure looks pretentious. I liked the old fashioned DD way of just getting to the credits without bothering to pay an extra camera man to pan/zoom from the sets.
Things change I guess. The question is do they need to?
